Beckham hopes to be a Player at the London 2012 Olympics

There has been a lot of talk as to whether Beckham will be at the London 2012 Summer Games as a coach or as a player. There are rules that allow players over 25yo to compete in the Olympic Football team, but the general the competition is manly for young up and coming players. I’m sure Team USA will have something to say if he is allowed to compete as a player. Football is running throughout the Olympic Period if the finals being held on the 11th of August. LA Galaxy veteran David Beckham has expressed an interest in playing for Great Britain in next summer's London Olympics.

The 35-year-old, who has amassed 115 caps for England, has enjoyed a glittering career having spent four seasons with Real Madrid after a trophy-laden spell with Manchester United.

Beckham is currently plying his trade in USA's MLS, although he has one eye on playing his part in next year's highly-anticipated Olympics, even though he will be 37.

The seasoned-veteran is not counting his chickens with the tournament over a year way, however, he feels in good health and believes his form is good enough for selection.

Involvement
"I think it's something I'd like to be involved in as a player," said Beckham.
"But we'll have to wait and see what happens, as it's still a year away yet.
"I feel good in games and I feel as if I'm still performing well.

"I'll enjoy the rest of this season. You know we're only five games in."
