The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXX Olympiad, will take place in London from July 27th to August 12th, 2012
London 2012 sees the British capital become the first city to officially host the modern Olympics three times, having done so in 1908 and 1948.
Redevelopment is well underway in many areas of London at time of writing ahead of the first events starting on July 27th, 2012, with the 2012 Olympics featuring 26 sports and a total of 38 disciplines.
The 2012 Paralympic Games will feature 20 sports and 21 disciplines.
Around eight million tickets are expected to be made available for the Olympic Games, and 1.5million tickets for the Paralympic Games.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on March 15th, 2011, with tickets on sale until April 26th, 2011.
